Your heating system’s coils are the most important part to keep things hot on long and cold winter nights. And hot is what you want in a heater, right?

The coils are where the heat exchange takes place. Regular maintenance of the coils is crucial for the longevity of your heating system.

How Coils Work:

Why Maintenance of Your Heater’s Coils is Important

In simplified terms, there are two sets of coils: the evaporator and the condenser coils. One is located indoors and the other is outdoors.

The evaporator coil works by pulling heat from the air to cool it or by adding heat to it for heating. This is then circulated through your home. The condenser coil acts as a regulator for the temperature.

Since the location of a system’s coils is dependent on the models of the unit, it’s important to have a licensed and insured A&D Mechanical technician perform this type of maintenance.

Easy Maintenance to Keep Coils In Working Order

  • Change Air Filters Regularly
This is something you can do yourself. Set a reminder to change your filters monthly if you have indoor pets, quarterly if not. Dust and dirt can build-up and keep your system from heating effectively.
  • Clean and Checks Maintenance Appointments
Schedule regular maintenance with a licensed and insured HVAC service provider. Investment in regular maintenance helps with the longevity of your HVAC system.
  • Clear Debris Around Unit
Check for plants, vines, or trees growing around your outside unit. Make sure to give the unit several feet of clearance to help increase airflow.
