On these hot steamy days of summer, there’s nothing so refreshing as an icy cold treat. Whether you make a quick stop to enjoy a Pineapple Whip or treating yourself to a cherry sno-cone at the Ozarks Empire Fair, on the hottest days, you think having something frozen is a welcome relief to the heat.

Not always…

Summer in Missouri is lovely, but with high humidity and soaring temps, it can be an unhealthy combination for little ones, elderly, and those with health issues. Keeping your air conditioner running becomes imperative to stay well and is not just for comfort. If your air conditioner runs too long and is working too hard, it can freeze up.

When it comes to your A/C, ice is definitely a problem. Ice could be a sign of a bigger issue and if not addressed and resolved early, you could be looking at a costly system replacement.

Possible causes for your air conditioner to freeze

  • No airflow to the coils
  • Not enough refrigerant
  • Fan not working properly
  • Dirty and clogged air filters
  • Closed registers
  • Drainage problems
  • Faulty thermostat

If you find that your A/C simply isn’t cooling like it should or has stopped working altogether, be sure to give us a call. But first, check your unit outside to see signs of ice collecting around the coils. If so, turn off your air conditioner.

It might sound simple enough, but it’s an important step because we can’t effectively diagnose and fix the unit while it’s frozen. By turning off your unit at the time you schedule your service, when we arrive, we’ll be able to get straight to work without having to wait for the ice to melt.

This will save valuable time in getting your unit running again and keeping you cool in this hot summer!

Go ahead, enjoy some frozen treats to beat the outside summer heat. Have the peace of mind that we’re here when you need us most to keep your home cool and comfortable. Give us a call today and ask about our affordable service programs.

Wishing you a wonderful summer!
