One sure-fire way to keep things hot this Valentine’s Day is to keep your heating system in tip-top shape! We don’t want to tell you how to keep the fire going in your love life, but we do know if the heat is not keeping up in your home, things will get mighty chilly fast! In fact, you may be on the receiving end of the cold shoulder, if the temps aren’t warm enough!

Tips That Help Keep Your Home Warm This Winter

February is winter, yet it has enough warm days to tempt us of the upcoming Spring. That warmth sometimes inspires you to open your windows and doors and let in some fresh air. Other times, you are buried deep beneath blankets and have cranked up the heat.

There seems to be no happy medium to winters in Missouri. One thing we do know is that it can all change in an instant! We’ve gathered a short list of how to keep your home “heated” this winter.

  • Open Curtains on South-Facing Windows

For those beautiful sunny winter days, opening your curtains or blinds on south-facing windows can help naturally heat your home for a few hours. Not to mention, the sunshine can make a difference in your attitude and combat those winter blues.

  • Cover Windows at Night

Make sure those same curtains you drew back to allow the sunshine in are covered once the sun goes down. This provides a barrier between you and the cold. Better yet, seal any leaks you may find around the windows and hang tight-fitting, insulating drapes.

  • Replace Furnace Filters

Keeping your filters fresh helps your furnace run less. If you live in a dusty area or have pets, you most likely will need to change your filters monthly. Fresh filters will help keep down the allergens too.

  • Schedule Service For Your Heating System

Ask yourself, “When was the last time I had my heating and cooling system checked?” If you can’t remember, then it’s time to call us. Regular system checks and maintenance extends the life of your unit. When your system is working too hard to keep up, things start to go wrong. Although we recommend system checks in the fall and spring before the extreme weather hits, it isn’t a bad idea to have your unit checked now for a clean bill of health and not wait for system failure.

  • Conduct an Energy Audit

Home Saver Energy Audit is a great way to see where your energy is being “spent” and often is a great tool to lowering heating/cooling and energy costs.

We don’t want to see your love grow cold, which is why we are available 24 hours a day for emergencies. Also, be sure to ask us about our Peace of Mind Service Plan to see if it’s right for you. Remember, a few simple steps can help you conserve energy and be much easier on your pocketbook.

We hope you have a “heated” Valentine’s Day. In fact, we’d like to help you keep things heated all winter long!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
